AI-assisted workflows, process automation, and digital tools, applied not as novelties but as genuine productivity multipliers applied with engineering discipline and professional responsibility.
I have been an early and active adopter of AI tools in my professional practice. Not because it is fashionable, but because I recognised quickly that these tools, applied correctly, represent a genuine step change in what one person can produce and how quickly they can produce it. I use leading AI platforms regularly across document production, design exploration, research, and problem-solving workflows.
The key distinction I hold onto. The one that matters most to clients is accountability. AI accelerates and augments; it does not replace professional judgement or remove the responsibility of the person whose name is on the output. Every document, analysis, or recommendation I produce with AI assistance is reviewed, refined, and owned by me.

"The question is never whether to use AI. The question is whether you understand it well enough to use it well, and whether you are willing to be accountable for what it produces."
The most useful AI and digital work is rarely about the technology itself. It is about finding the places where the right tool removes the right friction and allows people to focus on what actually matters.
AI-Assisted Document Production. Business plans, proposals, executive summaries, technical reports, tender documents, and project correspondence, produced faster and at higher quality through AI collaboration, with full professional review and accountability for every output.
Engineering Design Exploration. AI as a collaborative thinking partner for working through design constraints, evaluating trade-offs, and exploring optimisation options before committing resources to a particular direction.
Process & Workflow Automation. Identifying and eliminating the manual, repetitive steps that slow teams down. Using automation tools that connect systems, reduce friction, and let people focus on higher-value work.
Building & Home Automation. Implementing connected building management systems for residential and light commercial environments, integrating energy systems, appliances, security, and environmental controls into unified, intelligently managed platforms. I have built and operate my own whole-home automation system with Modbus integration to a Victron inverter, giving me practical, tested experience with real-world implementation challenges.
Digital Tooling Advisory. Helping organisations choose and implement the right digital tools for their specific context: project management platforms, CRM systems, collaboration tools, reporting solutions, and AI applications. Honest, practical advice grounded in actual usage experience.
There is a meaningful difference between using AI tools and building AI systems. Most professionals are developing the former. Sinclair Dynamics has moved into the latter.
The Sinclair Dynamics solar monitoring platform is a working example of what that looks like in practice. It is purpose-built for PV solar and battery backup systems. It is not a general monitoring tool, not a SCADA platform, not a building management system. It does one thing with depth: it tells solar system owners and portfolio operators whether their PV and battery investment is performing as it should, and why it is not when it falls short.
The platform connects to solar inverter systems via cloud API, pulls live operational data across PV output, battery state of charge, grid interaction, and system state, and cross-references that data against real weather conditions including solar irradiance and cloud cover. The AI observations engine then reasons across that combined dataset and produces plain-language insight specific to PV and battery behaviour: the kinds of observations an experienced solar engineer would make on site, delivered continuously and automatically.
"The AI does not replace engineering judgement. It scales it. The prompt architecture encodes deep PV systems knowledge: the patterns worth noticing, the questions worth asking, the difference between a weather event and a performance fault."
