Engineering knowledge and delivery discipline, working together. Not a process manager — a technically grounded leader who understands what's actually being built.
There is a meaningful difference between a project manager who manages a programme and one who understands what the engineers are actually doing. I sit firmly in the second category — and that distinction shows up in real ways, every day, on complex projects.
Over more than two decades, I have delivered projects across national infrastructure programmes, major public works, electrical construction contracts, and technology development environments. I have managed significant contract portfolios, led large and diverse teams across multiple active sites, and represented client and contractor interests at the highest levels of project governance.
My background spans both Waterfall and Agile environments — I hold formal certification in Scrum and have applied Agile frameworks in product and technology settings alongside traditional contract management on infrastructure projects. That range means I can work effectively whether the environment is a formally structured government programme or a fast-moving technology delivery team.
"I'm not the designer or the technical decision-maker — but I understand what the designers and engineers are doing well enough to govern the process effectively."
I have held security clearances and access permits for works at nationally significant facilities — experience that speaks both to my credibility in sensitive environments and to the standard of personal integrity required for such roles.
Good project management is rarely about any single skill. It is about the combination — the ability to read a contract and understand its implications, to manage a programme without losing sight of the day-to-day, to hold a subcontractor to account while maintaining a working relationship, and to communicate clearly upward, downward, and across complex stakeholder landscapes simultaneously.
Contract & Commercial Management. Full lifecycle contract management from tender preparation through to final account. I understand contract law well enough to navigate it effectively, and I have managed the commercial interface between clients, consulting engineers, and subcontractors on contracts spanning a wide range of values and complexity levels.
Stakeholder & Client Engagement. I have represented both employer and contractor interests at project governance level — managing relationships with state-owned enterprises, major metropolitan authorities, national agencies, and private sector clients. I communicate clearly, manage expectations honestly, and maintain productive working relationships even under pressure.
Risk & Programme Management. Proactive identification and management of programme risk — not as a compliance exercise but as a genuine delivery tool. I maintain a consistent focus on the critical path and the early warning signs that matter most.
Team & Resource Leadership. I have led large, diverse teams across multiple simultaneous contracts — technical staff, labour, subcontractors, and service providers. I understand how to build a team, manage performance constructively, and get the best out of people in demanding environments. I bring experience in emerging contractor development and transformation-aligned procurement relevant to the South African project environment.
Agile Delivery & Scrum. As a Certified ScrumMaster®, I bring structured Agile practice to technology and product development environments — sprint planning, backlog management, retrospectives, and the cultural shift that makes Agile work in practice rather than just in theory.
Reporting & Documentation. Clear, well-structured project reports, payment certificates, variation claims, and contract correspondence. I increasingly leverage AI-assisted workflows to improve the quality and speed of documentation without compromising professional accountability.
